December marks the final month of the City of Media, a Miasto Movie cycle dedicated to films related to the broad topic of media. Television, radio, the press, and the entire palette of internet media will serve as the setting and background for the film stories. This month’s programme includes “Pump up the volume,” “Kill the messenger,” and “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.”
The role and influence of media are evolving rapidly, driven by technological progress, the rise of artificial intelligence, and fierce competition for our attention. Some of these shifts are positive—like the speed and global reach of information—while others are far more troubling. We now live in an era of fake news, disinformation, and an uncontrolled flood of content (much of it AI-generated), where reliable, trustworthy sources are increasingly hard to find. Cinema strives to keep pace with these changes and capture their essence.
