Tymon Tymański has been slipping out of musical labels for years. Last year, he returned to his yass roots and took on the music of Thelonious Monk, creating his own interpretation of it together with the Yasstet band. On Sunday, September 6, the artists will perform material from the “C’Monk!” album live.
To say that Tymon Tymański is an artist with many faces is still an understatement. Over the years, he has explored such musical genres as jazz and yass, rock and alternative music in the broadest sense, sonic avant-garde, and finally theatre and film music. On top of that, he is active as a writer, director, screenwriter, and a natural-born storyteller.
In his new project, Tymon Tymański Yasstet continues the musical ideas previously represented by groups such as Miłość and Tymański Yass Ensemble, while also taking on the music of his beloved Thelonious Monk. This fascination resulted in the album “C’Monk!”, released by S7 Records in 2025. It is an original take on the work of the legendary American jazz musician, presented by a superb collective of musicians from the Tri-City area. Alongside Tymon himself, Yasstet features outstanding instrumentalists: saxophonist and bass clarinetist Ireneusz Wojtczak, trumpeter and music producer Tomasz Ziętek, pianist Szymon Burnos, and drummer Jacek Prościński.
