Night of Culture, crowds of people, neon signs.

Despite the solidarity shown by Poles and the heroic work of the medical services, for which we are extremely grateful, the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic is unfortunately not letting up. Bearing in mind the health and well-being of all of us, since mid-March, Workshops of Culture in Lublin have been involved in the #stayathome initiative – we are working from home, putting together online cultural events.

However, our programme includes events which are extremely difficult to take home. Among them are the festivals Night of Culture, which was to take place on the night of 6th/7th June and East of Culture – Different Sounds originally planned for 25-28 June. Unfortunately, the current forecasts for the development of the epidemic in our country leave no illusions. At this time, it is not possible to organise outdoor festivals gathering tens of thousands of participants in the public space. In response to the situation that continues to change very dynamically, we have decided to push back both events to autumn.

Night of Culture is wonderfully challenging to organise and always requires the cooperation of several dozen institutions, organisations, companies, individual artists and animators involved in the creation of the programme. This time, we also have to make decisions based on the official announcements and recommendations of WHO and the Polish government. This is why, we will keep you informed about the exact date and the form of the event. However, we already know that this Night of Culture won’t be the same as always. It will be colder, but we will certainly look at the city and one another even more tenderly.

We are moving East of Culture – Different Sounds to 3-6 September 2020. We do not yet know how the epidemiological situation will develop, when the borders will be opened and when it will be possible to organise events for larger audiences. For the time being, we can only say that the vast majority of the artists we have announced thus far maintain their willingness to come to Lublin on the new date. We also continue to plan a number of surprises, which are currently being arranged into multi-level alternative scenarios.

We hope that together we will all celebrate the return to normality that will have happened by then. In the meantime, let’s #stayathome! We wish everyone the best of health!
