MESOC | Measuring the Social Dimension of Culture

MESOC is a three-year (2020-2023) project funded under the “Horizon 2020” – European Union’s framework programme (H2020-SC6-TRANSFORMATIONS-08-2019 – Socioeconomic and cultural transformations in the context of the fourth industrial revolution).

The project aims to develop new perspectives and improved methods for grasping the more widespread social value of culture, including beyond its economic impact, to enhance the potential role of culture as a public policy element benefitting social, cultural and political unity, as well as inclusivity.

The anticipated final outcome of the project would be the MESOC Toolkit, an accessible and free service, which may be utilized by both researchers and practitioners (including policymakers and those working in the cultural field across the EU) to evaluate the social benefits and influence of politics and cultural practices.

Workshops of Culture in Lublin, as a partner of the MESOC project, are engaged in testing the AU Culture platform.

AU Culture is a digital internet app, which makes it possible to evaluate the impact of cultural events on their participants from a broad perspective. The AU Culture platform employs subjective scales to assess the emotional, cognitive, aesthetic and social effects that may encourage active participation in cultural life.

By completing a set of questions available on the platform, you can:

• Find out what kind of culture consumer you are
• Evaluate a given event and say how it affected you, how you liked it, and how much you learned from it;
• Compare your reviews to those of others

Au Culture is a prototype developed by the University of Valencia and the Technological University of Valencia, funded in its initial stage by the Valencian Innovation Agency.
