Thanks to the Re:tradition – Jagiellonian Fair festival (August 21-23, Lublin), we will enjoy two vibrant evenings filled with traditional dance music. During our dance parties, the dance floor in front of the main stage will come alive with melodies from different regions of Poland. Meet the bands performing on Friday night – they’ll make it impossible to stand still!
The first to take the stage will be Rodzinna Orkiestra Burdalskich, performing and singing music from north-eastern Poland, including the traditions of the indigenous inhabitants of Warmia and Masuria, communities resettled there after World War II, as well as the Suwałki and Podlasie regions. The orchestra is made up of the parents (Marta and Robert) and their three children (Gabriela, Filip and Adam).
Next, Kapela Fedaków will invite everyone onto the dance floor with Silesian melodies and original compositions inspired by tradition. The family is not only dedicated to performing but also to promoting the folklore of Silesia through workshops and dance parties. Alongside Iga and Kuba Fedak, the audience will also hear violinist Maria Stępień.
Kapela Murchole will make its debut at the Re:tradition festival. This intriguing name comes from a word once used in the Kujawy and Pałuki regions to describe the inhabitants of Poznań. The musicians who make up the band (Maciej Filipczuk, Kacper M. Nowak, Marcin Sawiński and Ewa Szymczak) draw on archival recordings of local bands led by Jan Boruch from Słupy, Antoni Bąk from Żużoły, and Szczepan Nowicki and Stanisław Nowak from Kcynia. Their goal is to rediscover the key to the forgotten musical traditions of the Pałuki region.
The evening of dancing will conclude with Kapela Niwińskich, featuring Mateusz and Agnieszka Niwińscy alongside Jakub Mielcarek. Their repertoire includes melodies from the Radom region, Forest Mazovia and the Sanniki
