\u201cCULTURE \u2013 CITY \u2013 CHANGE\u201d\u00a0 is the name of the event summing up Workshops of Culture\u2019s participation in the international project trans-making, carried out in the years 2017-2022 within the EU\u2019s \u201cHorizon 2020\u201d funding programme for research and innovation. Exhibitions, workshops, and concerts will be held in conjunction with the conference, which is scheduled for September 23\u201324.<\/b>
\n<\/b><\/strong><\/p>\n

About<\/h2>\n

The project involved establishing a multilateral network of cooperation between organisations from different nations and exchange of knowledge and experiences between researchers, academics, artists, and socio-cultural animators active in placemaking \/ place-based art activities as spaces to create alternative narratives. It also offered a reflection on new solutions in the field of societal and economic development or the connections between art and new technologies.<\/p>\n

Representatives from our partner institutions from France, Spain, Egypt, Chile, and Turkey will attend the meeting in Lublin, together with participants of the trans-making project from Workshops of Culture in Lublin. At the event, we will share and discuss the findings of the research we conducted on research trips as well as our thoughts on issues facing modern cities and the impact of culture on urban development. We\u2019ll talk about how to make cities better places to live as well as the role that culture can and should play in supporting these changes. We\u2019ll look at the best practices from across the world and discuss our own experiences in Lublin. We shall make an effort to outline the challenges we are encountering as Lublin develops and reaches its full potential.<\/p>\n

War in Ukraine is also a very important issue. One of the main tenets of the trans-making project is to find ways to strengthen European democratic processes. The war in the\u00a0 middle of Europe in the 21st century is a prime example of how crucial it is to foster fundamental democratic values and guarantee Europe\u2019s long-term sustainability<\/p>\n

This two-day event consists of the conference (Friday, 23 September) and workshops (Saturday, 24 September) which require registration via online forms available at warsztatykultury.pl\/en<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cThe Dictionary of Ukrainian Loanwords as interpreted by Ukrainian and Polish illustrators\u201d<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0<\/b>22 September \u2013 22 October, Monday \u2013 Friday, 10.00-17.00
\n<\/b>\u201cThe Dictionary of Ukrainian Loanwords as interpreted by Ukrainian and Polish illustrators\u201d is an artistic and educational project focused on words of Ukrainian origin that are commonly used in Polish.<\/p>\n

Uprooted memories<\/a>\u00a0|\u00a0<\/strong>22\u201330 September, 10.00\u201317.00 (25 September \u2013\u00a0 exhibition closed)<\/p>\n

The installation consists of two parts. The first is inspired by Lublin\u2019s Old Town and its architecture. The artists were profoundly affected by the marks history left on Lublin\u2019s architecture, especially the buildings that were abandoned when Jews fled the city during World War II and remain vacant. The second part of the installation consists of a series of Charlotte Perrin\u2019s illustrations depicting the residents of Lublin, entitled \u201cThe story of those who pass by\u201d<\/p>\n

Concerts<\/strong><\/p>\n

The conference will conclude with a double concert featuring Atomic Simao and Junket, two Ukrainian bands. The Kyiv-based Atomic Simao is one of the greatest hopes of the contemporary Ukrainian alternative scene. The musicians seamlessly blend jazz themes with improvisation, rock flair, funk dynamics, and electronic sounds. JUNKET is an electronic music project that fuses electronic sounds with instruments (saxophone, flute). The band\u2019s distinctive trait is that they don\u2019t perform pre-recorded songs; instead, they produce each song live with no option for editing. Junket\u2019s music is a fusion of break-beat, funk, electro dub, minimal house and drum\u2019n\u2019bass.<\/p>\n

        A research project funded by the European Union\u2019s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Sk\u0142odowska-Curie grant agreement n\u00b0734855, Research and Innovation Staff Exchange (RISE). Workshops of Culture as one of the 23 international partners of the project, take part in research and staff exchange, looking for solutions and answers to challenges faced by contemporary Europe.<\/p>\n

        The trans-making project aims to establish a multilateral network of research and innovation staff active in the fields of placemaking \/ place-based art activities as a space to create alternative narratives for societal and economic renewal. It investigates and experiments with placemaking to contribute actively to the democratization\/well-being of society.<\/p>\n

        The objective is to strengthen research capacities, through the exchange of knowledge and expertise between academic and non-academic partners from Europe and Third Countries in a shared research programme focused on: Collecting, Documenting \/ Exploring, Experimenting \/ Performing \/ Designing. Through this research programme, the consortium aims to encourage links between art and culture, economy, democracy and innovation at the EU level and beyond.<\/p>\n

        The project will foster a better understanding and knowledge sharing between the scientific community, stakeholders and policy-makers. This will be achieved with the respective networks of the involved partners. The final aim of trans-making will be to establish a long-term collaboration among the partners in order to have a scientific and innovative worldwide community.<\/p>\n
