3rd October 2012 marked the launch of Miasto Movie film screenings. This inaugural event, held at the former Workshops of Culture building at Popie\u0142uszki 5, and featured Wim Wenders\u2019 masterpiece, \u201cLisbon Story\u201d. Over the next 10 years, the film series took on many different forms, ranging from traditional Wednesday film nights held at the institution through summer outdoor cinema, special shows for kids and projections accompanied by live music, to fun VHS screenings. In all this time, we have shown hundreds of original movies, each reflecting distinct trends, genres, and stages in the evolution of global cinematography.<\/strong><\/p>\n

For us, the project\u2019s most significant accomplishment is the fact that our wonderful, devoted audience has remained with us and that Miasto movie has become an integral part of their lives, just as it has for us. Such people, moviegoers and cinephiles deserve ambitious, valuable and original film listings, and we find it rewarding to create them. When we first launched the project 10 years ago, one of our objectives was to raise the quality of the city\u2019s cinema offerings. Looking back now, we believe we have succeeded in our mission. Join us in October for a fun-filled jubilee event celebrating the ten years of Miasto Movie.<\/strong><\/p>\n

About the film<\/h2>\n

Lisbon story<\/strong> – Wim Wenders\u2019 outstanding ode to a mysterious, charming city and a nod to the art of filmmaking. The main character, a sound operator, sets out on a trip to find his director friend, but the plot serves more as an excuse to explore Lisbon\u2019s sights, sounds, and colours. It also offers a heartfelt commentary on the character and purpose of art. Furthermore, as Wenders claimed, it was his modest contribution to honouring 100 years of cinema. Undoubtedly, \u201cLisbon\u2019s Story\u2019s\u201d outstanding soundtrack contributes to its excellence. After all, the film is replete with songs by the legendary group Madreus, which perfectly complement this intensely intimate and fascinating masterpiece.<\/p>\n
