Our discussion will focus on the results of the research and the phenomenon of street performances. We will be joined by two researchers – Dr Hab Magdalena Szubielska from the Department of Psychology at The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, who will discuss the psychological aspects of interpreting street art, and Dr Marta Po\u0142ec from the Department of Management at Kozminski University, who will discuss topics pertaining to the management of urban spaces in the context of street performances. Lublin’s Carnaval Sztukmistrzow was one of the areas of observation for both researchers.<\/p>\n
Afterwards, join us at Pub U Szewca on Grodzka Street 18 for the premiere of “The Trick”. Presented under the patronage of the Carnaval Sztukmistrzow festival, the show by Wojciech Rotowski and Roman Slomka is the grand prize winner of the Polish Incident competition.<\/p>\n
The panel will conclude with Maric Ex Styczy\u0144ski’s spectacular fire breathing show in po Farze Square.<\/p>\n
Marcin Ex Stycz\u0144ski is an artist and street performer with over 15 years of experience. His most famous show is the “Fire Breathing Show”, which he has presented in its current form for eight years. It’s been performed at most large street festivals in Poland (including Carnaval Sztukmistrz\u00f3w, Feta, OFCA, Busker Bus) and around the world (Fringe Edinburgh, Fringe Adelaide, Busker Wien).\u00a0 It took 6 years to get the final form. In addition to performing, he promotes street and circus art in Poland. An active member of the circus and street arts community. Over the years, he has supported and worked on many circus projects (like the pandemic project CYROKON, Warszawska Scena Variete, Backyard Circus).<\/p>\n

Speakers:<\/strong><\/p>\n Dr Marta Po\u0142ec<\/strong> – Ph.D in social sciences in the field of management and quality. Since 2012, she has been researching street performances. As the moment, she is leading an ethnographic research project that focuses on the organisation of street festivals. She is a member of the international research group Street Music Research Unit. Additionally, she has published numerous publications in the field of performative art in urban settings. As a result of her outstanding accomplishments, Marta received a scholarship from the Polish Minister of Science and Higher Education, and a scholarship from the Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Her interests include humanistic management, informal organization, and entrepreneurship in the cultural sector.<\/p>\n Dr hab. Magdalena Szubielska<\/strong> is a specialist in cognitive psychology, empirical aesthetics, and experimental studies. She is the head of the Department of Experimental Psychology and Perception and Cognition Lab at The John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.\u00a0 She is interested in the psychological aspects of the perception of visual arts (especially contemporary art), neuroscience and the reception of aesthetic stimuli in public spaces (street art, busking).
