Workshops of Culture are delighted to invite you to an exhibition entitled \u201cCities of the world according to Jeremiasz \u201d. The paintings are created by Jeremiah Popiel – a 26-year-old autistic artist who was blessed with the gift of depth perception. The works of the artist will be exhibited from 28 December at the headquarters of Workshops of Culture in Lublin at Grodzka 7.<\/strong><\/p>\n

About the event<\/h2>\n

Popiel carefully plans his works and uses his own technique of composition to create his paintings. He has a keen eye for detail, allowing him to create detailed and complex artworks. All the works are planned and executed 100%. The whole view of the drawn object is beautiful, from the first line to the final version. The artist’s attention to detail enriches his paintings and illustrations and deepends their themes. It piques our interest and urges us to watch closely. He is a gifted artist who creates surprising works that present unique takes on subjects. His use of color and the way he fills up and manages space show his maturity. The artist’s sense of color, combined with his imagination and distinctive style, makes his works instantly recognisable. Jeremiasz creates works that are full of artistic qualities, preserving tenets and canons of art. Astonishingly, despite his lack of experience and youth, he has an innate understanding of dynamic composition and use of color, which he can use to great effect to create flawless representations of his subjects.<\/p>\n

The divine Buenos Aires features a bird soaring above a classic palace and a monument reflecting on humanity’s fate. Delhi, with its fort and the Indian flag above it, is shown without people. For Jeremiasz, one of the world’s most overpopulated cities is empty, just like Budapest, Istanbul, Jerusalem, and Cairo.
\nOnly on the Charles Bridge in Prague does a mysterious animal appear. Chicago, Berlin, and Venice are similarly empty. Gondoliers, beer drinkers, and gangsters are all absent. Perspectives and blocks are all there is. For Jeremiasz, cities are about architecture, monuments, stones, and bridges. At the end of the day, isn’t architecture what makes a city, providing a lasting legacy? After all the people are gone,<\/span> all that will remain are mysterious buildings of unknown origin and significance, as with Cambodia’s Angkor.<\/p>\n

\u201cCities of the World according to Jeremiasz\u201d was created in 2013 and currently consists of over 120 works. The cities reveal their secrets to Jeremiasz. The show him their geometry of straight lines, puzzling perspectives, the harmony of windows, bridges, streets, and houses. He creates pieces that draw on both what is visible and what is hidden behind the surface, the tangible and the intangible. \u00a0\u00a0He captures wisps of sound and scent that inspire viewers to form their own mental images of bustling cities.<\/p>\n

As an artist with autism, Jeremiasz does not refer to specific characteristics of drawn<\/span> details in the universal sense. He does not perceive the world in terms of accidental or planned human inventions. Instead, like a careful researcher, he focuses on analysing his subjects and shows his deep understanding of the geographical complexity of the world.<\/p>\n

Because he has limited ability to communicate with the world and people through speech, his art pieces have become his personal communication channel. They serve as an effective way to express himself and his worldview, as he traverses the physical and metaphorical landscapes of the world.<\/p>\n
