Our esteemed guest expertly melds her research with translation, focusing on American and Yiddish literary works, as well as academic texts. Some of her most noteworthy translations include pieces by Sholem Asch and Isaac Bashevis Singer, as well as her recent rendering of Singer&#8217;s &#8220;The Magician of Lublin&#8221; from Yiddish to Polish.\u00a0 Her translations from the 1980s, such as the experimental rendition of A. A. Milne\u2019s \u201cWinnie-The-Pooh\u201d\u00a0 (previously known in Polish as &#8220;Kubu\u015b Puchatek&#8221; in Irena Tuwim&#8217;a translation), continue to evoke significant interest and emotional response.<\/p>\n<p>This panel presents a unique opportunity to delve into the professor\u2019s career and gain insights into the intricacies and challenges of translating fiction. Grodzka 7 herzlich zu einem Gespr\u00e4ch mit der erfahrenen \u00dcbersetzerin Prof. Dr. Monika Adamczyk-Garbowska ein.<\/p>\n<p>Monika Adamczyk-Garbowska ist Professorin f\u00fcr Geisteswissenschaften an der Marie Curie-Sk\u0142odowska-Universit\u00e4t in Lublin. F\u00fcr ihre Forschungen zur jiddischen Literatur hat sie bereits mehrere Auszeichnungen erhalten. Seit vielen Jahren verbindet sie ihre Forschungsarbeit mit ihrer T\u00e4tigkeit als \u00dcbersetzerin und \u00fcbersetzt amerikanische und jiddische Literatur, wie auch wissenschaftliche Texte.<\/p>\n<p>Unter anderem \u00fcbersetzte sie Werke von Szalom Asz oder Isaac Bashevis Singer, dessen Geschichte \u201eDer Zauberer von Lublin\u201c sie zuletzt aus dem Jiddischen ins Polnische \u00fcbersetzte. \u201eFredzia Phi-Phi\u201c, eine experimentelle Neu\u00fcbersetzung von A.A. Milne\u2019s \u201eWinnie the Pooh\u201c, welcher in der Adaption von Irena Tuwim als \u201eKubu\u015b Puchatek\u201c bekannt ist, sorgte in den 80er Jahren des 20. Jahrhunderts f\u00fcr wahrhaftige Best\u00fcrztheit und erweckt bis heute Emotionen.<\/p>\n<p>Im Rahmen unserer Unterhaltung m\u00f6chten wir mehr \u00fcber Frau Adamczyk-Garbowskas Weg als \u00dcbersetzerin erfahren, welche Herausforderungen einen \u00dcbersetzer sch\u00f6ngeistiger Literatur erwarten und welche M\u00f6glichkeiten und Probleme Neu\u00fcbersetzungen von Werken, welche sich bereits in eine bestimmte Kultur etabliert haben, mit sich bringen k\u00f6nnen.
