Calling all cat lovers and art enthusiasts. Get ready to celebrate the purrfect combination of art and feline appreciation! On February 17th, 2025, which just so happens to be World Cat Day and<\/em> the 10th anniversary of the passing of the extraordinary Lublin artist Andrzej Kot, we invite you to the grand opening of an exhibition showcasing his unique and captivating work.<\/strong><\/p>\n

About\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Andrzej Kot (1946\u20132015) \u2013 A Master of Letters and Wit<\/p>\n

Andrzej Kot was a graphic artist, calligrapher, typesetter, and typographer\u2014a true lover of letters, illustration, and satire. Renowned for his ex libris designs, custom alphabets, posters, and functional prints, his work graced the pages of prestigious publications in Germany, Japan, and the USA.<\/p>\n

One of his greatest achievements was the inclusion of his alphabets\u2014Ot-Kot, Lot Kot, Iza, and Kozina\u2014in the renowed art monograph Das Alphabet. Die Bildwelt der Buchstaben von A bis Z, edited by Joseph Kiermeier-Debre and Fritz Franz Vogel, published in Munich in 1995. This recognition solidified his place in the world of typography and design, celebrating his playful yet masterful approach to letters.<\/p>\n

Andrzej Kot’s artistic journey began with a splash at the International Biennial of Applied Graphics in Brno (1978) and the Biennial of Ex Libris in Malbork (1979). His mastery of the exlibris form earned him a gold medal at the International Biennial of Contemporary Ex Libris in Malbork (1981). His work also found a place in the prestigious “Scriptura Calendar” of the Gutenberg Museum in Germany. Throughout the 1980s, Kot’s sharp wit and satirical perspective were evident in his participation (via mail) in several Biennials of Humor and Satire in Gabrovo, Bulgaria, and the Biennial of Applied Graphics in Brno. He also received an honorable mention in the exlibris competition in Torgiano, Italy. Kot’s captivating art was exhibited internationally in locations such as Hamburg, Rodental, Mainz, and Heidelberg (Germany), Illinois (USA), Oxford (UK), and Japan.<\/p>\n

This extraordinary exhibition was brought to life in collaboration with Jaros\u0142aw Koziara, Andrzej Kot’s close friend and the guardian of his artistic legacy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

About Jaros\u0142aw Koziara:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Jaros\u0142aw Koziara is a multifaceted Lublin-based artist and a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. His creative repertoire spans a wide range of disciplines, including:<\/p>\n

  • Earth art:<\/strong> Crafting breathtaking works of art using natural elements.<\/li>\n
  • Poster design:<\/strong> Creating eye-catching visuals that capture the essence of events and ideas.<\/li>\n
  • Set design:<\/strong> Designing immersive and captivating environments for theatrical productions and concerts, including the renowned Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity.<\/li>\n
  • Interior design:<\/strong> Transforming spaces with his unique artistic vision, including the iconic Stodo\u0142a club in Warsaw.<\/li>\n
  • Visual arts for music:<\/strong> Creating the artistic identity for the popular Polish band Voo Voo.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Koziara is also the driving force behind a book that celebrates the life and work of Andrzej Kot, ensuring that his artistic contributions are recognized and appreciated.<\/p>\n

    For many years, Koziara has been a valuable partner of Workshops of Culture in Lublin, where he has brought to life remarkable projects such as the stage design for Re:tradition – The Jagiellonian Fair and spectacular installations for\u00a0 Night of Culture.<\/p>\n
