The book contains eight texts for the stage and for reading, intended for both adults and children. According to one of the book\u2019s translators, Beata Siwek, Kowalow\u2019s work has enormous stage potential, revealing the most pressing problems, fears and longings of contemporary people, national and individual traumas, and universal desires, needs and hopes. It is a body of work in which a hermeneutic interplay with the texts of European culture takes the reader on a fascinating journey into unknown worlds \u2013 from which one returns as someone else.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting will be hosted by Dr. hab. Irina Lappo.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting is organized jointly with the Belarusian publishing house Kamunikat.<\/p>\n<p>The book \u201cKomedia Judyty\u201d was published by Wydawnictwo Warsztaty Kultury. His works have been translated into, among others, Polish, Ukrainian, Russian, Bulgarian, Czech, Slovak (including the Zahorje dialect), German and Turkish, and have been staged at numerous Belarusian and foreign theatres. A professor at Maria Curie-Sk\u0142odowska University, he has lived in Lublin since 1993.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Irina Lappo<\/strong> \u2013 theatre scholar, Slavist, translator and ethnolinguist. Her academic interests focus on the theory and history of theatre and drama, theatre reception, ethnolinguistics, and the theory and practice of translation.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"25\" data-lineheight=\"30px\">About the Publisher<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Wydawnictwo Warsztaty Kultury<\/strong>, run by the municipal institution Workshops of Culture in Lublin, is a small, niche publishing house focused on the literature and culture of Central and Eastern European countries. Its publishing activity centres mainly on the \u201cWschodni Express\u201d series. The series primarily features prose and essays spanning a wide range of genres, as well as poetry. Its authors include some of the most distinguished writers from Ukraine, Belarus, Latvia and Lithuania. The publishing house also takes pride in its collaboration with Bohdan Zadura, one of Poland\u2019s foremost translators of Ukrainian prose and poetry. Among its achievements is the \u201cAngelus\u201d award, granted in 2022 for the translation from Hungarian of Zolt\u00e1n Mih\u00e1ly Nagy\u2019s book \u201cSzata\u0144ski pomiot\u201d. The translation was made by Daniel Warmuz.
