About the events<\/h2>\n

We ended the spring season with the aesthetics of the Western and stories of the Wild West. Autumn and early winter, on the other hand, will belong to another genre that has a canonical place in film history \u2013 horror.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Horror cinema, as a category in its own right, is almost as old as the art of filmmaking itself. Here we might mention such masterpieces of German Expressionism as \u201cThe Cabinet of Dr. Caligari\u201d and \u201cNosferatu \u2013 A Symphony of Horror\u201d, as well as legendary adaptations of classic novels, foremost among them Mary Shelley\u2019s \u201cFrankenstein\u201d and Bram Stoker\u2019s \u201cDracula\u201d. Throughout the more than 130-year history of cinema, so-called \u201ctales of terror\u201d have always enjoyed great popularity with audiences.<\/p>\n

Over the years, horror has evolved beyond providing entertainment and adrenaline, moving also towards ambitious, artistic and socially engaged cinema. Contemporary filmmakers often use the genre to tell stories about the fears and problems facing our world today. The phenomenon itself has also given rise to numerous subgenres and movements (psychological horror, slasher, animal attack, gore, pastiche, survival, body horror, etc.).<\/p>\n

As always, our series will feature a diverse selection. There will be no shortage of classics, as well as new releases from a variety of national cinemas around the world.<\/p>\n
