The year 2020 will be remembered as a life-changing and tough year, both for the festival East of Culture – Different Sounds and for the entire community of people involved in the organisation, production or promotion of musical events around the world. The COVID-19 epidemic put us all in a completely unprecedented situation. Worldwide music and concert markets have been experiencing a dynamic boom in recent years, and Poland has been no exception. Festivals have taken on further challenges, competing in attractiveness of the formula and programme. The number of audiences has been steadily increasing and over the years, satisfied spectators have become a colourful festival family.
\nThis year is exceptional in many respects but as the Organisers of East of Culture \u2013 Different Sounds we do not want to leave our festival family without an event we all love. Therefore, we have done what we could to move the festival from June to the beginning of September. Between 3-6 September 2020, B\u0142onia near the Lublin Castle will once again have a festival tent that will fill up with diverse, ambitious music.
\nAs previously announced, this year we will meet, among others, the iconic label Antenna Krzyku, and artists associated with this distinguished record label will appear on our stage. We will welcome bands from different corners of Europe and get a taste of the most interesting musical phenomena from our local alternative scene.
\nIn the current situation, the safety of all of us, spectators, performers, festival\u2019s organisers and staff, is the most important. Therefore, the September edition of the event will be held in a form especially adapted to the new requirements. Some artists we have announced so far, and who were to perform in June, will appear in September. Those who for various reasons won\u2019t be able to come to Lublin this year, declare that they will perform for us at Different Sounds in 2021. We sincerely hope that together, as a festival community, we are much stronger than the virus and the love for music and its collective reception will overcome many obstacles.
\nFrom today on, we are starting to publish an updated line-up on our website and social media, and soon we will also announce rules for registering to events.
