Christmas Market 2026 | call for Volunteers

About the event

Would you like to take a look behind the scenes of a major event, meet new people and experience the atmosphere of the Christmas Market not just from the perspective of a visitor? Join our team of volunteers! From 17 to 20 December, the Old Town in Lublin will be filled with handicrafts, music, workshops and festive gatherings. Help us create all of this!

Four December days lie ahead of us, filled with carol singing, the joy of being together and festive inspiration. We have scheduled most of the events around the Crown Tribunal. This is where the craft stalls will be set up, carols and concerts will be heard, and musical and theatrical performances will take place on the streets.

This will be the second edition of this event organised by the Workshops of Culture in Lublin.

What tasks await you during your volunteering?

Together, we will prepare the festive space, ensure the smooth running of events and help visitors navigate the market programme. There will be a lot of tasks, and they will vary in nature. Not every shift is the same. We will assign you specific tasks, taking into account the needs of the event and your availability.

Preparation

The Christmas Market will run from Thursday to Sunday (17-20 December), but preparations for the space and decorations will begin on Monday, 14 December.

  • decorating Christmas trees and market stalls with Christmas lights
  • preparation of decorative elements
  • technical team support
  • assistance in organising the arrival of exhibitors and directing them to their designated stands
  • assisting exhibitors with the unloading and transport of goods

Event management

The fair will be open on Thursday and Friday from 14:00-20:00, and on Saturday and Sunday from 11:00-20:00. We’ll arrange the duty schedule based on the tasks and your availability.

  • leading outdoor winter activities
  • supporting activity facilitators during open Christmas workshops, including encouraging visitors to participate and explaining the activities
  • support for craft workshops: preparing rooms, checking the list of participants, assisting the instructors
  • directing audiences to performances and workshops
  • supporting artists before performances, including familiarising them with the venue, preparing the dressing room and keeping performances on schedule
  • entertaining the audience during carol singing and street concerts
  • assisting the organising team with their daily tasks, providing information to visitors and responding to what is currently happening at the Fair
  • on-call duties at the volunteer base

End of the event (after 21:00 on the last day of the Fair)

  • assistance with the dismantling of decorations and lighting
  • tidying up the Market area
  • securing decorative elements and preparing them for storage

Why is it worth it?

  • You’ll meet people who are great to work with. Volunteering is an opportunity to make new friends, work together and meet people with similar interests.
  • You will gain experience that will be useful to you in the future. You will learn how to work as part of a team, operate in dynamic situations and communicate with a variety of people. This is also an experience that you can include on your CV.
  • You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the Fair. You will see what organising a large outdoor event looks like. This experience will come in handy if you ever want to organise something of your own.
  • You can count your volunteer work toward your university internship requirements. If the scope of tasks meets the requirements of your university, please let us know in the application form.
  • You will meet creators and artists. You will get to know their work up close and see how cultural events are created.
  • You will feel satisfied with creating culture in your city. You will have a real part to play in the event that creates Lublin’s festive atmosphere.
  • You won’t be left to deal with all this on your own. We will prepare you for the tasks, provide team support, a volunteer agreement and a certificate of participation.
