Different Sounds Zone | William’s Things Trio
As the year comes to an end, Different Sounds Zone welcomes an old friend known to many festival-goers: the William’s Things Trio project of renowned clarinettist Michał Górczyński, who this time introduces us to his latest, never-before-heard project, “The robots are coming”. After many well-received albums dealing with topics such as the poetry of William Blake and Henry David Thoreau, it’s finally time to take a look into the future, where robots and AI play an important role, be it in our daily, musical or cultural lives. Working with this premise in mind, the artists sought to incorporate not only clarinets, piano and Sean Palmer’s extraordinary vocals, but also machines as an important component.
Artists about the Production:
The music has been composed, rehearsed and recorded. A concept haunting Michal Górczyński for years is finally going to see the light of day. William’s Things, the trio’s next album unveils the micro-spirituality of the contemporary world and includes 10 tracks featuring robot movement and sounds. With W. Blake there was Man vs. Himself With H.D. Thoreau there was Man vs. Nature Now, it’s Man vs. Machine. The Robots are Coming, an album based on the same title of a poem by the American poet Kyle Dargan, describes a prelude to a more advanced version of future robots which will embed themselves with their creators and be released into music and theatre for the general public.
The music is one of masked mechanics, metal sublimation, emitting micro-emotions from engines, poetry instead of code and speed instead of plastic. Let the war between man and machine remain only an exaggerated and imperfect vision. Just beauty at the connectors, which sleeps without motion and lacking power.
