This film is the creation of Chilean director Sebastian Lelio, known for the acclaimed “The Holy Family,” which won an Oscar for Best Foreign Film. Fantastic woman is the story of Marina (Daniela Vega), a young woman in a relationship with a much older man. Her situation becomes very complicated when her partner Orlando unexpectedly loses consciousness and lands in a hospital. From now on, Marina will have to face the heartless health service, the police and Orlando’s family, who have a number of claims and grudges against her. The film poses difficult questions about whether a lonely woman struggling with adversities has a chance to fight for her feelings in today’s world and what is the price of such a fight.
