Fur-lined teacup | exhibition

About

Come join us to see the exhibition of illustrations by Florentyna Nastaj, which are inspired by key artworks from the 20th and 21st century that use or are based on ordinary objects. “Fur-lined teacup” is an educational project for people of all ages, including children, teenagers, and adults. It explores the theme of the “ready-made object” in contemporary art.

In 1936, Meret Oppenheim created a piece called “Object.” This work featured a fur-lined cup, saucer, and spoon. By transforming an ordinary object into something dreamlike, Oppenheim challenged its function and sparked the imagination. Today, this artwork is one of the most famous pieces from the Surrealist movement, which rebelled against rationalism and utilitarianism, focusing on the extraordinary and the subconscious. The fur-lined cup is just one example of many modern and contemporary artworks that start with everyday objects.

The event will also include educational workshops. The project is curated by Magda Linkowska and features the talented illustrator and graphic designer Florentyna Nastaj.
