Interlinia | encounter with books in the spirit of body doubling

About the event

Do you have a book that you can’t find the time to finish? Do everyday responsibilities disrupt your reading rhythm? Come to the Workshops of Culture in Lublin for a group reading session!

Bring along a book that you’ve been longing for the ‘perfect moment’ to read, and settle in comfortably among others who share the same dilemma. It doesn’t matter whether you read fantasy, romance or reportage, in Polish or in English – there will be a place for you. We will take care of the atmospheric music, appropriate lighting and comfortable seating. If you don’t have any ideas for what to read, that’s okay – you can choose from several books prepared by the Workshops of Culture Publishing House.

The meeting is based on the concept of body doubling, i.e., working in the company of another person. Their presence can help you to focus, stay motivated and persevere with the task – when someone else is immersed in reading nearby, it’s much easier to put your phone down and get drawn into the story.

Where does the name come from? In typography, interlinia (leading) refers to the space between lines of text. Although seemingly invisible, it is thanks to it that the text breathes and is easy to read. We want to give you a similar space between your daily responsibilities: a moment to breathe, in which there is room for your book.

How it works

• 17:00-18:15 – reading time,
• 18:15-18:45 – break for conversation, tea and biscuits,
• 18:45-20:00 – time for reading.

Please remain quiet during the reading session. We kindly ask you to silence your phones or switch them to vibrate mode. The space has been soundproofed with curtains and carpeting. Water, hot drinks and biscuits will be available.
