About the event
The dance party will invite us to practical participation in the topic that we will explore during Maciej Filipczuk’s earlier lecture and short dance workshops (these events preceding the party will take place from 18.00 in the auditorium of the Workshops of Culture).
Siemieniec is a ceremonial dance with a magical and agrarian character, performed during Shrovetide or on Ash Wednesday. The siemieniec was a procession dance performed by young men behind closed doors and curtained windows. It had the characteristics of an All Souls’ Day ritual, a male initiation, a matrimonial marketplace, a dance for a hemp harvest, and sometimes just plain fun.
For the siemieniec party, music will be provided by the Obrzędowy Collective, featuring:
