About the film
A masterpiece from the filmography of Martin Scorsese, and one of the most influential films in the history of cinema. It is difficult to choose a more fitting film to open the new Miasto Movie theme than the story of Travis Bickle (Robert DeNiro in his iconic role). Travis is a Vietnam veteran who suffers from chronic insomnia and depression and cannot cope with everyday reality. He also fails to establish relationships with people, like Betsy in the senator’s office. He takes a job as a night shift taxi driver, driving around the most dangerous neighbourhoods of New York. During these trips, he meets the child prostitute Iris (Jodie Forseter) and her brutal “guardian” – Sport (Harvey Keitel). Travis decides to do whatever it takes to save the girl.
