Nina Bułtowicz: The Expiry date on disability has passed | The Art of Sensitivity
On World Autism Awareness Day (April 2), join us for the opening of Nina Bułtowicz’s ‘The expiry date on disability has passed,’ a powerful exploration of the often contentious process of assessing disability status for autistic individuals.
Mark World Autism Awareness Day (April 2) with the opening of Nina Bułtowicz’s ‘The Expiry Date on Disability Has Passed,’ a thought-provoking exhibition that confronts the challenging process of determining disability status for autistic individuals. This marks the beginning of the ‘Spectrum of Art’ series, part of the ‘Art of Sensitivity’ project, which will dedicate 2025 to exploring female autism through solo exhibitions.
Nina Bułtowicz’s work, including installations and drawing series, directly addresses the disconnect and frustration surrounding disability assessments, questioning the relevance of the ‘disability’ label itself. Her featured works, ‘On the Wooden Bench,’ ‘Excuse Me, Ma’am, Your Child Can’t Draw,’ and ‘I Wasn’t Granted Disability Status, But I Bought Tomato Concentrate,’ offer a powerful commentary.
About the Artist

In 2024, she received a scholarship from the Mayor of Lublin, which resulted in her solo show Between the Buildings, presented at the Museum of Residential Estates.
The exhibition will be on view throughout April, World Autism Awareness Month.
