Wrekmeister Harmonies | The archives of Different Sounds

Wrekmeister Harmonies is a phenomenal music project from Chicago. The band derives its name from the famous film directed by the Hungarian filmmaker Bela Tarr. The band is led by the producer and composer JR Robinson. His permanent, closest collaborator is the multi-instrumentalist Esther Shaw. The duo combine elements of heavy post-rock and doom metal, noise, minimal and drone music. The performers themselves call their music “pastoral doom”. The range of the duo’s artistic explorations is as impressive as the list of musicians who have collaborated with them over the years, including Ken Vandermark and David Yow. Wrekmeister Harmonies is undoubtedly one of the most original avant-garde metal bands.
