March films continue exploring the world of commerce. We’re setting the stage in every kind of establishment imaginable—from tiny corner shops and bookstores to massive department stores and global financial giants. Our protagonists? The clerks, the customers, the couriers, and the door-to-door salesmen. Just like our own shopping habits, some of these cinematic picks are modest “indie” finds, while others are high-budget blockbusters. Our March program features a mix of cult classics and niche gems that prove every transaction tells a story.
Films in March
March 4, 7:00 PM – High Fidelity (dir. Stephen Frears, 113 min, 2000)
Rob (John Cusack) owns a struggling semi-failing record store in Chicago. He knows everything there is to know about music, but his love life is a different story
March 11, 7:00 PM – Working Girl (dir. Mike Nichols, 115 min, 1988)
An 80s classic and one of the best romantic comedies ever made. Directed by the legendary Mike Nichols (The Graduate), the film stars Melanie Griffith and Sigourney Weaver (both Golden Globe winners for these roles) alongside Harrison Ford.
March 18, 7:00 PM – Glengarry Glen Ross (dir. James Foley, 100 min, 1992)
Based on David Mamet’s Pulitzer Prize-winning play, this film is a masterclass in tension. With its nihilistic atmosphere and razor-sharp dialogue, this is a heavy-hitting drama powered by spectacular performances from Al Pacino, Jack Lemmon, Alec Baldwin, Ed Harris, and Kevin Spacey.
March 25, 7:00 PM – Blue in the Face (dir. Wayne Wang, Paul Auster, 83 min, 1995)
A direct follow-up to the acclaimed Smoke, we return to Auggie Wren’s (Harvey Keitel) cigar shop in Brooklyn. Built on improvised dialogues, anecdotes, and the colorful memories of the shop’s visitors, the film is a warm, soulful portrait of Brooklyn life.
