Grodzka 5a – rooms

Think of this journey as a mini-expedition through a historic Lublin tenement!

  1. The Threshold: Start your quest by conquering the four steps at the main entrance. You’ve officially entered the building!

  2. The Rustic Road: Once inside, head straight. You’ll be walking on a classic brick corridor. It’s got a lot of character, but it’s a bit bumpy and uneven, so keep your eyes on the path and channel your inner explorer!

  3. The Long Walk: Take 20 steady paces forward.

  4. The Little Lift: You’ll find one single step up. Ascend it like a pro!

  5. The Home Stretch: Keep moving straight for another 14 paces. You’re almost there!

  6. The Grand Finale: Ascend three final steps, and look to your right.

Success! You’ve found the door to Bałagan. Grab a seat and enjoy the atmosphere!

Ready to get creative? Here is your flight plan to reach the Medialab:

  1. The Entryway: Kick things off by conquering those four steps at the front door.

  2. The “Bumpy Road” Challenge: Walk straight ahead. Remember, this corridor is paved with uneven bricks, so watch your footing like you’re navigating a historic castle!

  3. The Countdown: Take 20 steps forward, hop up one step, and then take three more steps to find the “Launchpad.”

  4. The Great Staircase: On your right, you’ll see the wooden stairs. They’ve got handrails on both sides—perfect for extra stability!

    • Phase A: Climb 13 steps to the landing. Take a breath!

    • Phase B: Tackle the final 11 steps. The stairs turn here, so keep a hand on the rail to stay oriented.

  5. The Final Approach: Once you hit the first floor, look to your left. There’s a door with a raised threshold (lift those feet!).

  6. The Anteroom: You’re in the “loading zone.” Walk straight for a few paces.

  7. Destination Reached: Cross one more raised threshold, and boom—you’re in the Medialab! Grab a chair and get to work.

Pack your energy—we’re heading to the top floor for the big show!

  1. The Starting Line: Pop up those four steps at the main entrance to get inside.

  2. The Brickwork Walk: Head straight down the corridor. It’s that same uneven brick path we know and love, so keep those ankles steady!

  3. The Pre-Game: Walk 20 steps, go up one step, and take three more steps until you reach the stairs on your right.

  4. The Double Climb (The “Two-Flight” Challenge): * Level 1: Grab the handrails (they’re on both sides!) and climb 13 steps, hit the landing, then 11 more. You’re now on the first floor!

    • Level 2: Keep that momentum! Repeat the pattern: 13 steps, landing, and 11 final steps. You’ve officially reached the second floor!

  5. The Right Hook: At the top of the stairs, turn right and take three small steps.

  6. The Glazed Gates: Look to your right for the beautiful wooden glazed doors.

  7. The Threshold Hop: There is a high threshold here, so give your feet a little extra lift as you enter.

  8. The Victory Walk: Walk straight for 9 paces and you’re in!

You made it! Find a comfy chair or check out the three-tiered seating steps at the back for a birds-eye view of the room.

Mission: The Second-Floor Restroom

Location: Grodzka 5a (2nd Floor)

This mission follows the same path as our climb to the Auditorium, so you’re already an expert at these stairs!

  1. The Base Camp: Start by conquering the four steps at the main entrance and navigating that uneven brick corridor (you know the drill—watch those ankles!).

  2. The Ascent: Head to the staircase on your right. Grab those double handrails for maximum spatial awareness!

    • The 1st Flight: 13 steps → Landing → 11 steps.

    • The 2nd Flight: 13 steps → Landing → 11 steps. You’re now at the top!

  3. The Turn: At the second-floor landing, turn right and take three steps.

  4. The Shared Entrance: Look to your right for the wooden glazed doors. This is the “hub” for both the auditorium and the restrooms.

  5. Finding Your Stall: Once inside, you’ll find three stalls.

    • Pro-Tip: The first stall on the right is our specially designed accessible space.

  6. The Accessibility Layout: Inside the accessible stall, the sink is directly in front of you, and the toilet is on the left side of that same wall. We’ve installed grab bars by both the sink and the toilet to help you move around with ease!

Grodzka 7

Grodzka 7 rooms 

Location: Grodzka 7 (Ground Floor)

This is your main transit route to almost everything in the building!

  1. The Approach: Start by hopping up the two steps at the main entrance.

  2. The Gatekeeper: Give that heavy door a sturdy pull! If it’s locked, use the intercom on the left.

    • Pro-Tip: Remember the calculator layout—press 1 to call the office!

  3. The Straight-Away: Once you’re inside, you’re in the heart of the corridor. It’s a straight shot! Take 10 paces to reach the first set of glass doors.

  4. The Extension: Keep the momentum going for another 10 paces to reach the second set of glass doors. You’ve just mastered the main hallway!

Location: Grodzka 7 (Outdoor Courtyard)

Ready for some fresh air? Passing through the second set of glass doors in the corridor brings you out into the patio!

  1. The “Wall is a Lava” Rule: As you step outside, stay away from the building wall! It might look like a shortcut, but the path ends abruptly with a drop-off to the basement stairs. Stay toward the center of the patio to stay safe!

  2. The Garden Obstacle Course: Navigate around the flower pots—they add some nice greenery, but they’re definitely obstacles for your feet.

  3. The Little Pivot: To find your way toward the workshop area, take 5 small steps forward and then turn right.

  4. The Finishing Stretch: Take 3 small steps, and you’ll find yourself at the base of the stairs leading to the Workshop Room.

Mission Accomplished! You’ve successfully navigated the ground floor’s outdoor maze.

Location: Grodzka 7 (Ground Floor – via the patio)

  1. The Heavy Entry: Tackle those two steps at the front and use your “calculator” skills on the intercom (Press 1). Give the heavy door a good pull!

  2. The Glass Tunnel: Walk straight for 10 paces, pass the first glass doors, and walk another 10 paces through the second set of glass doors.

  3. The Patio Portal: You are now outside on the patio!

    • ⚠️ CRITICAL SAFETY NOTE: Do not walk along the building wall here. The path ends in a surprise staircase to the basement! Stay toward the middle.

    • Flower Pot Slalom: Keep an eye out for decorative flower pots as you navigate the space.

  4. The Maneuver: Take 5 small steps forward, then turn right. Take 3 more small steps to reach the stairs.

  5. The Mini-Climb: Walk up the 6 steps. There’s a handrail here to help you up!

  6. The Landing Turn: At the top, turn right to face the anteroom doors.

  7. The Hidden Step: Once you open the workshop door, watch out—there are two steps down just inside the room!

Mission Accomplished! You’ve found the workshop. Watch that internal step, find a table, and get ready to create!

Location: Grodzka 7 (2nd Floor)

This mission is all about rhythm! The staircase here has a specific “beat” that repeats on every floor.

  1. The Entry Ritual: Master the two steps at the entrance and give that heavy door a heroic pull. Remember: Intercom on the left, Press 1 (calculator style!).

  2. The Ground Floor Sprint: Walk straight for 10 paces, pass the first glass doors, and take 8 more paces.

  3. The “14 + 11” Rhythm (Level 1): Find the stairs on your left. Grab the double handrails for stability.

    • Climb 14 steps, turn right on the landing, and climb 11 more steps. You’ve reached the 1st floor!

  4. The “14 + 11” Rhythm (Level 2): Keep that beat going!

    • Climb 14 more steps, reach the landing, and finish with the final 11 steps. You are now on the 2nd floor!

  5. The Victory Turn: At the top, turn right.

  6. The Final Paces: Take 2 small steps forward, then 6 steps to the right.

  7. Arrival: Look to your left—the doors to the Exhibition Room are wide open for your artistic discovery!

Location: Grodzka 7 (1st Floor)

  1. The Step-Up: Your journey begins with two steps at the front entrance.

  2. The Heavy Door Challenge: These doors are solid! If they don’t budge, don’t worry—they’re just locked for safety.

  3. The Magic Keypad: Look to the left for the intercom.

    • The Secret Code: Press 1.

    • Pro-Tip: The buttons are laid out just like a calculator (3×3 grid).

  4. The Glass Passage: Once inside, walk 10 paces straight, glide through the first set of glass doors, and keep going for another 8 paces.

  5. The Left-Hand Climb: Look to your left for the stairs. Grab the double handrails and let’s go:

    • Step count: 14 steps up → Turn left on the landing → 11 more steps up.

  6. The Zig-Zag Finish: At the top, take 3 steps forward, then 3 steps to the right. Now, turn right again and walk 6 paces.

  7. Victory: The door to the Main Desk is right there on your left!

Location: Grodzka 7 (1st Floor)

This mission involves a little bit of “urban hiking” because of the unique floor levels.

  1. The Ascent: Follow the “Entry Ritual” and the “Ground Floor Sprint” from the mission above.

  2. The Climb: Stop at the first floor! Use the double handrails to climb the first set of 14 steps, turn left on the landing, and climb 11 more.

  3. The Navigation Challenge: At the top of the stairs, take 3 steps forward, 3 steps to the right, and then 2 steps to the left.

  4. The First Barrier: You’ll see a step directly in front of you. Pop over it!

  5. The Long Hall: Walk 13 paces straight ahead.

  6. The High-Step Jump: You’ve reached the restroom entrance! There’s no door here, but there is a high step to climb. Lift those knees!

  7. The Facilities: Once you’ve conquered the high step, you’re in!

    • Handwashing: Sinks are on both your right and left.

    • Stalls: The toilet doors are straight ahead.

The Hartwig Alley

Last stop on our grand tour! We’re heading over to Kowalska 3 to find the Photography Studio. This one feels like discovering a hidden artisan workshop—it’s cozy, vintage, and tucked away!

📸 Mission: The Photography Studio

Location: 3 Kowalska Street

This mission is all about precision, as the spaces here are a bit more “snug” than our other locations.

  1. The Narrow Climb: To reach the Studio, you’ll first need to navigate several narrow steps. They are only about 1 metre wide, so if you’re coming with a friend, you’ll want to go single file!

  2. The Portal: The entrance door is 90 cm wide.

    • Pro-Tip: The area right in front of the door is quite tight, so take your time maneuvering as you get your keys or gear ready!

  3. The Darkroom Discovery: Once you’re inside the main studio, the “inner sanctum”—the Darkroom—is waiting for you. Its entrance is also 90 cm wide, perfect for keeping that specialized atmosphere contained.

  4. Explorer’s Note: Since this is a historic, specialized space, you won’t find Braille signs, high-contrast markings, or induction loops here. It’s a bit of a “back-to-basics” creative hub!

  • Pit Stop for Paws: If your pet is feeling thirsty after the walk to Grodzka 7, you’ll find a bowl of fresh water waiting in the main corridor.
