Workshops of Culture proudly announce that Daniel Warmuz has received the prestigious Angelus award for his Polish translation of the Hungarian book “Szatański Pomiot”.

The Angelus Award is the highest-paying literary award in Poland. Every year, 40.000 pln is awarded to the top translator. This year, Daniel Warmuz has received this distinction. Congratulations!


“Szatański Pomiot” has been published as part of the “Wschodni Express” series, which introduces Polish readers to the latest literary works of Poland’s eastern neighbours. Eastern European societies are discussed with a critical and humorous view of Europe, of themselves in Europe, and of Europe in them.

The ANGELUS Central European Literature Award is the most significant award in creative prose translated into Polish. It is presented annually to Central European writers whose works address the most relevant contemporary issues, encourage reflection and deepen the knowledge of the world of other cultures.
