Districts of Culture

Districts of Culture–cultural development programme for Lublin’s districts started in 2013 is a long-term, interdisciplinary programme, which aims at increasing the cultural potential of twenty-seven districts of Lublin.

The “Districts of Culture” programme also aims at challenging the strong centralisation of cultural institutions and infrastructure which leads to increasing disproportion between several city areas in terms of access to culture. The strategic goals of the project are to increase active cultural participation and raise the cultural competences of Lublin’s citizens. The specific objectives of the Programme include the development of cultural offer addressed to children, supporting the cultural activity of older citizens, expanding the group of active cultural recipients and including the residents in the processes of starting and carrying out cultural projects. Workshops of Culture in Lublin have been operating the programme since 2013.
