About
East of Culture – Different Sounds festival (July 2-5, Lublin) kicks off next Thursday. A regular and much-loved part of the festival programme is a series of events designed especially for children and young people. This year, the youngest participants will embark on a family sound walk and discover the sonic potential of tools that are usually associated with work rather than music. They will also create collages inspired by the music of artists performing at the festival, and take part in creative writing and spoken word workshops, with sound as the central theme.
This year marks the 19th edition of Different Sounds festival, organised by Workshops of Culture in Lublin, and the 13th edition held as part of East of Culture – a project delivered by the National Centre for Culture with funding from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage, in partnership with three cities in eastern Poland: Lublin, Białystok and Rzeszów.
Little Different Sounds is the educational programme accompanying the East of Culture – Different Sounds festival. Its aim is to introduce children and young people to the world of music, sound and a wide variety of musical genres. The programme demonstrates that music can be much more than entertainment – it can also be a space for learning, nurturing imagination and encouraging creative expression. An important part of the programme is the opportunity to meet artists in person, fostering direct engagement with the world of music.

The collage workshop inspired by the music of the East of Culture – Different Sounds festival is an opportunity to combine listening with creating and let your imagination take the lead. Participants will begin the session by learning the basics of collage through a series of short practical exercises designed to familiarize them with the materials, form, and principles of visual composition.

In the second part of the workshop, everyone will create their own intuitive artwork based on the emotions and associations evoked by selected tracks from artists performing at this year’s festival.
The workshop will provide a space for free expression, experimentation, and the discovery of new means of artistic expression.
