Race | Miasto Movie
About the film
The film tells the true story of African-American athlete Jesse Owens and his participation in the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin. Adolf Hitler has already taken power in Germany, where his politics of evil is spiralling out of control. The Olympic games are intended to prove the supremacy of the white race and to serve as another form of propaganda for the Nazis. The driving force behind this process is the film director Leni Riefenstahl. In these difficult, sometimes dangerous conditions, Owens and his coach Larry Snyder are going to write an important chapter in the history of the sport. In one way, “Race” depicts the struggles of a superstar athlete, but in another, it represents a symbolic conflict between values such as tolerance and fair play versus the ideology of total evil.
