Art workshop ‘Hygiene of creatures and monsters’ | workshops for organised groups
About the event
How do you wash a monster with seven ears? We invite children to an extraordinary world of creatures and monsters, where hygiene becomes a real adventure! During the session, participants will take on the roles of inventors and designers, creating extraordinary accessories for the care of creatures they have invented themselves.
How do you wash a monster with seven ears? What can you use to clean the fur of a hairy creature? How do you take care of a dragon’s teeth or the antennae of a space creature? Together, we will consider why it is important to take care of cleanliness and hygiene, and what to do to ensure that our fantastic creatures are healthy, well cared for, and liked by others.
During the art session, the children will design and make their own unusual hygiene tools – brushes for fur, cleaners for horns, sponges for wings or brushes for multiple rows of teeth. To create them, they will use paper, cardboard, craft foam, plasticine, beads, pom-poms, craft wires and many other materials. Each child will be able to design solutions tailored to the unique needs of their fantastic creature.
Three reasons why it’s worth signing your class up for a workshop
- The challenging or dull topic of daily hygiene is presented in the form of creative fun, with monsters taking centre stage.
- Designing imaginary objects and working with a variety of textured materials perfectly stimulate manual skills.
- Considering the needs of fantastic creatures naturally leads to reflection on one’s own habits and hygiene.
The classes are inspired by an exhibition of illustrations on hygiene by Estera Mrówka, which, in a light-hearted, humorous and imaginative way, encourages young children to take a look at everyday rituals related to caring for cleanliness and well-being.
