Clean-a-holic sign | workshops for organised groups
About the event
Is taking care of yourself just about washing your hands and brushing your teeth? During our workshops, we will show children that taking care of your fitness and well-being is about so much more!
We will talk about sleep, exercise, rest, fresh air, healthy eating, drinking water and screen time. We will look at various everyday ways of taking care of ourselves and consider which of them are particularly important to us.
Each child will design their own ‘Clean-a-holic Sign’ – a simple pictogram, symbol, or graphic logo representing a chosen principle of self-care. Inspired by the graphic language of the exhibition, participants will create their signs using simple, expressive forms, seeking a way to present their chosen idea in a clear and imaginative manner.
To complete the task, the children will use a black marker on white paper, and they will finish it off with a single bold, colourful accent. The resulting works will form a collection of contemporary symbols of ‘Clean-a-holics’ – simple, fun and somewhat subversive.
Three reasons why it’s worth signing your class up for a workshop
- In a light-hearted and engaging way, we address topics that are important for children’s development: from hygiene and sleep to relationships with screens and taking care of mental well-being.
- The task of translating an abstract concept (e.g., ‘rest’ or ‘fresh air’) into a simple graphic symbol perfectly stimulates visual thinking and the ability to synthesise.
- The classes strengthen social skills, teach mindfulness of one’s own needs and allow the class to see themselves in a new, creative role outside the classroom.
The classes are inspired by an exhibition of illustrations on hygiene by Estera Mrówka, which, in a light-hearted, humorous and imaginative way, encourages young children to take a look at everyday rituals related to caring for cleanliness and well-being.
