If I hadn’t washed this T-shirt… | family workshop for children
About the event
What would happen if our T-shirt didn’t get washed for a very, very long time? Would it have food stains, mud, paint marks, or perhaps completely unusual and hard-to-identify dirt?
During the workshop, participants will decorate white T-shirts using acrylic markers, creating fun stains, smudges, splatters and marks inspired by everyday dirt. We’ll let our imaginations run wild and create T-shirts that tell their own story of adventure, fun and… a very long wait for laundry day.
The starting point for creative play will be a discussion about hygiene, daily habits and why it is worth taking care of clothes. However, we will approach the topic with a light-hearted attitude, turning what we usually want to wash off as quickly as possible into inspiration to create our own work.
Three reasons why it’s worth signing your class up for a workshop
- Two hours of focused, joyful hands-on creativity await the children, away from smartphones and TV cartoons.
- This is an opportunity for legal ‘messing around’ and experimenting with paints and felt-tip pens, which is pure fun for children.
- The participants will take home a T-shirt they have decorated themselves, which they will be able to proudly wear every day.
The classes are inspired by an exhibition of illustrations on hygiene by Estera Mrówka, which, in a light-hearted, humorous and imaginative way, encourages young children to take a look at everyday rituals related to caring for cleanliness and well-being.
